Ahhh..Back to the good'ol dayzzzzz Underneeth a car on your back doing floor patches..The lack of room...The mask that's just too big..So you end up holding the shaded lens with one hand..Flashing yourself repeadedly with the wire thats "live" all the time even if your not pressing the trigger.. The smell of burning hair..Thw weld spatter going down your arms inside your shirt..Boy I love my tig.. But anyway.. Its a 87 (I think) Mustang another buddy of mine owns..9 second car on the street..Its the car I did the aluminum fitting for..I have made lots of stuff over the years for this car..Here is the catch can I made 4 yrs ago..Ok..Back to the floors..By the way..For the first time ever shown on the Welding Web..(drumroll please).. Zaps Harbor Freight 110 Mig!!!!Here is how we keep the wire flowing freely thru those feed wheels..Here is the custom made patch..These are cosmetic patches only..There is another floor 1/8" away..Why its done like that..I have no idea..Here it is semi done..Camera batterys took a crap so thats the end of pics today.. Tomorrow I'll stop by and get more pics..I did the other side too..He's gonna grind the welds and then "Seam Seal" it and then paint..I get all the fun jobs.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Northern cars rust, especially if you drive them. Just a fact of living up here. John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:I replaced some floor pans, inner and outer rockers, cab corners and some other sheet metal for a customer once..... and that was the last time I ever did that. If it was my own car or a project of mine that would be fine I'd deal with it but not for a customer again. It started out with just some simple patches but when you started to get into it....... forget about it. Trying to explain to people that you just can't do what they want to do is sometimes nearly impossible._________________Chris
Reply:110v flux core welder from H.F.T., does it get any better? I love Mig welding under cars, love it so much I bought a Tig for when I build my exhaust, lets just say I've burned some sensative parts of my body 1 too many times while under a car.
Reply:hello something to keep and eye on in that car it the floor pan tearing were the seats bolt in to the inner rocker pannel. I know that is a common problem in those cars. I have fixed a couple of these cars for the same problem.millermatic 210syncrowave 180 SDhypertherm 380craftsman buzzboxclarke drill press/bandsaw

The doors wont open all the way..And the power windows wont go down..no battery.. So this is all I could really get with the camera..Its not much.. After its ground and finished I'll skip over and take more pics.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I know this is a welding site, but how about a pic or two under the hood. I've got one of these cars myself. I should have taken pics of all the welding I did on mine 2 years ago. I built a one off 3 link suspension and subframe connectors. Hooks real hard even on street tires now. Only problems: Caught a small corner of the carpet on fire thinking I had it far enough away from the corner I was welding  . And I could have sworn my hair was thinner after that project  .

Reply:You use the C-clamp to stop the eratic pulsating feeding of the wire....yes?
Reply:Well...not as pretty as your tig,but it holds! Never done overhead, I´m thinking it should suck :SYah, harbor freight tools work they just need a little help and modification, nice improvisation there did you use the harbor freight wire too? the cage looks sweetMy Babies: HF Drill pressHF Pipe Bender3   4.5" Black and Decker angle grindersLincoln Electric PROMIG 175that´s it!
Reply:elveryou are right it dose suck.ZAP you need to pic up a MM210 for the next pan job. i got a chance to try one out on a frends and it rocks on 20gage inverted. realy suprised me but it did a great job. although i did end up doing most of it with my MM135 with .025 and Co2 the MM210 with C-25 and.030 worked realy nice on it. i just did a lil bit with the MM210 to show him how to do it then he went to work on one side of the car and me on the other, that was even worse then doing over head. doing over head with some one else doing it beside you.but we got the job done and i got a chance to try out a MM210. great welder just makes me want one all the more. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Reply:here is one that looks like a comercial for miller with all the miller hood's gloves and 2 welders, but the MM's are out of the pic. yep i had the miller MIG/Stick on and he just got a pair of the Miller MIG gloves (after trying mine the last time i was ther.) and the BWE's are prety obveous. Reply:hay i found a weld shot, now if i could have only gotten there befor he tryed it 50 times   befor deciding he needed help.  oh well new toy we all know how that goes, ya just gotta play. all in all it was a realy good way to spend a day, we got all 4 pannels in and i had plenty of extra pills saved up to get me threw it, well that and a long lay down when i got home.this is Co2 in my MM135 with .025 wire, as you can see no real splatter problems with the Co2. i was real happy with its performance, just wish i had tryed it earlyer. no way i would have wanted to do it with flux, too much crap falling on me as it was with him grinding beside me.with 2 welders going i think UV glasses are a realy good idea and am shore they kept my eyes happy. Reply:the best part is the hole thing gets a nice thick coat of rubberized undercoating to hide it in the end any way, so even our icky beads will never be seen. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.Originally Posted by fun4now.here is one that looks like a comercial for miller with all the miller hood's gloves and 2 welders, but the MM's are out of the pic. yep i had the miller MIG/Stick on and he just got a pair of the Miller MIG gloves (after trying mine the last time i was ther.) and the BWE's are prety obveous.

Reply:O.T. -  That's all fine, well & good... but i'm a big fat guy... I could never get under a car that close to the ground... Think I'll have to keep driving trucks. The best things in life all come on a stick!
Reply:you could always build a rotisory for it so you could spin the botton out to you to do the welding. thats a possibility, we still may end up doing. if so i'll be shore to get pic's. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:sorry to bump up an old thread but....I did the same thing today on my mustang. What steps did u take to make sure it was completly sealed and that it doesn't rust?
Reply:best thing to do would be spray it with a rubber under coat, wally world caries a decent brand in a can for about $5 i think they also have  a kind closer to ryno liner thats paintable and drys to a hard rubber insted of staying some what soft. its about $8 a can. i have the chepo stuff inside my yard trailor and its working great on its 4th or 5th...maybe 6th year. i just do tuch up's when i scrape it off with a shuvel or some thing like that. after a wile it will dryup enough you can paint it, but the expensive kind is ready for paint the next day although i would let it sit a lil longer just to give it plenty of time to off-gas.after its welded go back over it with a sanding disk and or wire wheel and you should be able to see if you got it sealed up or not. use a bright light inside or out in the dark to check if ya want but you should be able to see if its good or not, after all if its coverd in rubber a pin hole wont realy matter.lets see some pic's summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:sorry zap but i had to laugh.  sorry bro, fuuuunny, but those welds look like chicken crap. no when to say when. I just messin with you. Hey whats the sence of having buddies if they cant pick on one another.i really do not ever touch a migwelder but all the nascar boys around me use them religously. hey i cant say i can do better but thanks for posting.
Reply:hey cut him some slack, he was using flux wire on a welder held togather with rubber bands and scotch tape. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:so would it be a good idea to silicone it to insure that it's sealed lol. Just putting the undercoating will prevent rust? I dont need any type of sealer?
