so , long time lurker here but ive hit a bit of a snag and im wondering if any of you guys can help. I own a 305g that we use mainly for repair work (mobile rig) for our oilfield equipment. while doing some air arcing in the shop a chain that had been used to lift the welder out of its skid rattled down between the gap between the shield and the exhaust and made contact with the generator (windings and shaft) . the welder still runs fine but nothing lights up , I can see that their is some damage to the generator and am wondering what my best options for repair or replacement are. I am more than willing the do the work to replace the generator myself if it seems likely that the damage is isolated to the generator and it is feasible to so without a lot of specialized tooling . I have a reasonable level of electrical knowledge (heavy duty mechanic) but this is a little out of my comfort zone . Any advise , information or opinions would be greatly appreciated . If you require any more information don't hesitate to ask , I will be at the shop for the better part of the day and will get some pics of the damage up later this evening , thanks in advance . |
