Hello,I've been dreaming up some of my ideas. I was weighing an option between anodizing some things myself versus sending it to a company to have it done. I started to ponder what effects anodizing has on aluminum's thermal properties. Lets say this object is a radiator, or even just a flat piece of metal, is the aluminum capacity to cool down and absorb heat reduced when it is anodized?Miller 330 a/bp water cooledI believe in gun control, I hold my gun with two hands. Reply:Black anodizing improves aluminums ability to radiate heat (increases its emissivity) which is why you see that on most heat sinks. Anodizing is such a thin layer, though, I doubt it has a significant effect on the aluminum's ability to dissipate heat through convection or conduction. |
