Hey guys... So today, i picked up a lincoln weld pak 100, for $100. It has the gas setup, but right now theres a roll of flux in there.Im clueless here, ive never used a flux machine, just my buzzbox. The first thing you notice is that, you have to hold down the trigger really hard for anything to happen, and sometimes nothing does happen, and you have to pull it 5-6 times to get any life out of it. What might be causing that??And the other thing, is that my welds suck. Probally not the machines fault, but i have a feeling somethings not set right. I got no penetration, and when i went to chip the slag, the weld literally broke off. Ive never seen that before. And another thing, why do my welds look like little dots?? I cant figure this one out... Im new at this, so i need all the help i can get...Thanks guys...
Reply:Does your electrode have the proper polarity for flux core wire? I know that when you switch from flux core to gas shielded welding, you need to switch the polarity around between your ground and gun.HH187Harris O/AInfrared thermometerHalf a dozen angle grinders

Reply:Connect the work cable to the positive terminal and the torch/feeder to the negative terminal. You have the volts turned all the way down. That's a low power 110v machine. Crank it up!Drag the torch like a stick rod rather than pushing it like you would with gas mig.Make sure you have a good connection with the ground cable.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:On top of the other suggestions, go SLOW. Most new welders go at least twice as fast as they probably should. Remember that's a very low powered 110v machine. The most powerful 110v machines (140amp) are rated at 1/8" under the BEST conditions, usually running FC wire on a 25 or 30 amp dedicated circuit. That machine is less powerful, so your max thickness will be reduced. Don't expect to do 1/4"+ with that and have a good weld..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:switch the cables, crank up the amps, put it on D and put the wire speed between 2 and 4. the sticky trigger is probably why he sold it, but it can be fixxed, you may have to take it apart and spray it down with electrical cleaner and lube. but check everything else first. what size wire is it? i have a 100 HD weldpac and it runs pretty good with.030 fluxcore. also make sure the wire is good and not rusted. make sure the wheels are sized to the wire. also check the tension on the wire, it might be too low or high and spinning out on the wire. you bought it used so i'm sure you didnt get the manual with it, mine and yours should be pretty simular, so if you need to know something just pm me or something. if and when you get it running right, you can weld thicker material, you just have to run multible passes and belvel where needed. also check the inside cover, it should have all the settings charts and part numbers for consumables and what not.
Reply:is it self shielded flux that your running? but yes check to make sure you are running DCEN not DCEP.
