Hey guys...Well, ive been having an endless streak of badluck with some of my projects lately, and ive been really wanting to play with my buzzbox, but i decided to replace the thing you hold and put your electrode in, the one at the end of the lead (hey, im new at this... lol...) and so i picked up a $20 replacement from tsc. I looked at it, and saw you screw the end of the lead to the inside of the handle, and slip the black plastic cover over. Simple enough. And now, the thing doesn't work. Just great. How did i screw this one up??Is there some trick to replacing one of these, any possibility of it being defective?? Id think the Chinese are pretty screwed if they cant make one of these... Or im pretty screwed if i cant get one to work.. lol..The other thing is, since the last time i welded anything, ive been doing alot of sandblasting, and i think that might have something to do with this. Theres a fine layer of sand and rust all over my shop now, and im thinking that might have ended up in the old girl and messed some stuff up.Any ideas?? Dumb question, but still pretty frustrating.
Reply:The word you are looking for is "stinger" thats what the piece of equipment that holds the electrode is called. Not sure about hooking it up. As far as i know if you have the copper lead making good contact with the screw clamp that holds it in you should be good to go. I am sure someone else will have some better troubleshooting than I do.
Reply:Pssst a blast of compressed air into the buzz box is good for it, just make sure no moisture is in the system! And just make sure there is a good earth
Reply:Did you strip the insulation from the end of the welding cable before you put it together? |
