I started a project this weekand for a winery.  They want a 18" cleanout put in the bottom of one their fermentation tanks.  The cleanout is 3/8" thick, the tank is 14ga and the glycol liner is approx 22ga.  So I cut the glycol liner back 1 1/2" back from the opening, trimmed the cleanout to the radius of the tank and tacked it.  Then I welded the liner, then the cleanout ring.  Unfortunately, I screwed up when I cut the liner back and was off on one side by 1/2" so I had to recut it and fill the grind marks.  That's why you can see the surface not being so smooth.  I also had to weld a bolt to the end of my clamp to reach around the rim so I could squeeze the liner to the tank.  They are not the best welds that I can do, but for some reason I could not get comfortable.  We all have our days.-Mike Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:Looks real good to me.  I know what you mean too about getting comfortable.  There are days I just can't get a consistent weld and days when I can do it blindfolded even in "similar" situations.
