What are you guys paying for Al. mig wire in 1 lbs spools for the spool gun ?I have not bought any in afew months was paying around $10 for 1 lbs spool and now itis $20 for the 1lbs spool.
Reply:Hey fowlwaters,Personally, I think $10 for 1lb spools is a bit high. $20 is ridiculous. I've been fortunate to find quality, name-brand AL wire online(E-Bay) quite inexpensive. The last roll I got a few weeks ago was a 15lb roll of .035 5356 for $23 incl s/h. I got (2) 11lb rolls of the same in May for $27 incl s/h. These rolls had a slight damage to the outer lip on the spool & did not affect the wire at all. I buy the larger spools so I can rewind my 4" spools for my (2) spoolgun units(shop/mobile). I also picked up a 33lb spool of .030, 70S-6 for $26 incl s/h.Here's a couple pics of my rewinder I made. You can easily rewind your empty spools on a lathe quite nicely. There is a lot of good wire for sale very reasonable on E-Bay. Do some exploring....Denny Attached ImagesComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Ya know sometimes I just cant velieve how dumb I am. I would have never thunk about rewinding a spool like yorkie does. I just kept throwing away the money along with the small empty spool. Never thought about chucking it up in the lathe and refilling it, too simple... Thanks Yorkie, great idea,BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:We have been thinking of respooling on the 1 lbs spools going to just have to see if the lathe will be slow enough. Thanks |
