hello I have been welding aluminum for about 4 yrs. , mostly castings but some flat 8 to 12 qauge . I am using gmaw and or puls mode on machine . Any way am able to weld fillets ,buttwelds. most any position with good results . The problem is with welding 1.5 t0 3" round tube or pipe in downhand position. Can not get good bead apperance . As far as i know there is nothing wrong with the machine t, tryed different settings, gun angle. What would the aluminum experts out there suggest ? Reply:Don't think I'm trying to be a smart @$$ please....I would use tig for that.Otherwise do a nice bevel and be watching the toes widen out and move forward. It's all about the rythym IMO. That is a very fast weld that will take years to master for many folks...some may never make a "pretty" weld there. Just make sure it is 100% Miller Dynasty 700Miller 350P with Aluma-pro push-pullMiller 280 Dynasty with expansion card Dynasty 200 DXMigMax 215 Enuff power and hand tools to create one of anything..... but mass produce nothing!!!
Reply:What is the problem with your bead appearance? Cold toes, too much build-up, sagging, porosity...?Have we all gone mad?
