I bought some angled steel from Lowes, cut it with a chop saw and went at it with my Millermatic 135. I know it won't impress anyone, but It's my first actual weld so I'm kinda proud of it.

Reply:I remember my first pieces now, I showed the boss. He only saw the foundation brackets I wasted practicing with, "What are those?"I said, "They are my first welds." "I know, but what are those pieces?", he says. "Uh..."City of L.A. Structural; Manual & Semi-Automatic;"Surely there is a mine for silver, and a place where gold is refined. Reply:My auto-dimming mask comes in sometime this week. I hate welding blind with a standard mask. I know that not red != not hot. I made that mistake a few times by now, so I know smoking gloves means put the metal down. I also welded the cutting deck on my dad's John Deere, but I burned through it in one spot. |
