I know this has probably been asked hundreds of times, but Im new here.  I am putting together a new welding trailer and am kinda lost for ideas as to the design of my hose rack.  My bottles reside on the right side(looking from the rear) just behind the axle.  Am planning to place my rack just forward of my bottles, but for some crazy reason im having a severe case of designer's block.  Any ideas or pics of your set up would be greatly appreciated."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:Have you thought about an auto wind hose reel?I know it's not the same as building your own but they work well and are compact. I plan on putting a some on my work truck soon, one for the O/A,  one for air and one for water i have a 90ltr stainless water tank I pressurize I will plumb it to the hose.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
Reply:Thought about the auto wind for about a half a second lol.  Want to build something.  And since i also rope i want to incorporate some horse shoes into the design like i did on my lead racks.  Been thinking about it all day today and think i may have it figgered out.  Will post pics when i get 'er all done."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:You could make a big X or a + with horseshoes at each point as the hanger.  You probably want to keep the hoses pretty tightly wound to avoid them falling off (bad things can happen with OA).  The design of the trailer will have an influence on how to attache it.  However, I almost hate to mention it, but Harbor freight sells a OA hose real that is fairly inexpensive as OA hose reals go.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:Got my hose rack done.  Turned out quite nice.  Am in the process of building a hinged/folding work table that will also be attached to my rig.  A vise and a length of angle will be included on the table.  Promise to include pics as soon as i get everything put in place and painted."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:I left my bottles on the cart, and put a bolt through it with a nut welded on the bottom of the bed so that I can take it off and roll it wherever I need it.  Really looking foward to pics.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:Here are some pics of my welding rig and the rear bumper i built."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:Nice rig.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:There's still a folding work table with a vise thats under construction and 2 ladder racks that will be added.  There is also a 35 gallon water resivoir complete with pump that will be placed on the tongue and a 5 gallon water cooler to go on the tongue as well.  Then i think i may possibly have it complete for a while.  Till I get ready to add a wirefeed and tig setup."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:did you build the trailer?DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:No i didnt.  Built all the racks...but the trailer is a commercially built one."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:Very neat set up. Should be a joy to work from.Simonhttp://members.optusnet.com.au/~abba/index.html
Reply:That is one solid bumper!
Reply:The bumper is made from 4x4x1/4 tubing.  The plate steel that fills in the sides is 3/16.  Everything was welded w/7018 1/8 rods.  Brackets are 4x1/4 flatbar.  I notched the bumper, slid in the brackets and welded them up.  The brackets are bolted and welded to the frame.  I am planning on modifying a receiver hitch to weld to it as well for extra bracing since the bumper is so low to the ground."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:Just a suggestion, If your going to load ladders on the trailer maybe run and strap your cables on the underside of the trailer so that your cables dont get messed up ! ( just a suggestion)
Reply:but the rig looks good
Reply:The ladder rack will run on top of the driver side rail.  Floor space in front of my leads is for my 8 ft step ladder.  The racks will hold 24' extension ladders.  Thanks for lookin out for my leads tho.  Those arent cheap here."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:Dang you all and your rigs, I am going to have to get busy on mine.  I recently bought one of those Ridgid gang boxes and really like it.  Home Depot ran the Greenlee version on sale but was out so they subed the Ridgid at the same price.  I like the locking arrangement on the Ridgid much better.Old farm boy type welder/fabricator
Reply:old truck rims work good for cable storage..same thing but diffrent..i use car rims bolted to the house for the garden hoses... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:thanks for the heads up but im trying to keep this one professional lookin.  No redneck welders down here"If it aint broke, fix it till it is."

Reply:there is NO hot work done on the wood.  I have a steel work table on my trailer and a removable side mounted vise for work that must be done close to the trailer.  Most of my work is done away from my rig."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
Reply:I know this thread is fairly old but i need to access the pics that were placed in it and for some reason i cannot.  Can someone please see if they can save them and email them to me.  email is [email protected].  please include "weldingweb pics" in subj. Thanks guys."If it aint broke, fix it till it is."
