MIG welding aluminum videos

Hello all,  does anyone know of any good welding videos on welding aluminum with MIG?I know that the eastwoodco.com has some great welding videos, but none on aluminun.Thans, Mike
Reply:Like everything else in life... just go for it.  I decided to get the aluminum kit for my mig set.  I had the funds, so I opted for the whole gun w/teflon liner so it won't be too much trouble to change out.Also got a tank of 100% Argon and some scrap aluminum.Sure could use some advise from you "real" welders the have time under your belt with aluminum. Reply:clean, clean , clean some more- welding alum. with this process does not provide the cleaning action of ac tig. so get yourself a s.s. wire brush and use it only on alum. -have funKeep your stick on the ice

Reply:Thanks dob... my first attempt was... bad!  I'm going to have to work on it! A looooootttttttt!fla jim...  I went to that web site like you suggested, and it has helped.  I still would like to find some videos on aluminum welding with a low power mig set.I talked to a friend about aluminum and a mig set.  He said that besides getting a good tig set, a lincoln power mig 300 was the way to go in the mig sets.  He thinks he knows someone that has one that might think about selling it.From what I've read about it, might be a good set to have.  Very expensive though.  He would have to be selling it cheap!Does anyone have any time with the lincoln power mig 300 that can tell me if it is worth going after?I'll keep working on it.    Thanks, j-mike
Reply:Over the years, I've never had good luck with a mig gun on aluminum. If you decide to get serious with aluminum get a spoolgun. I don't know about whats available for lincoln. I have a MM210 set up with dual clyinders and a spoolmate 3035 spoolgun along with the M25 mig. This setup is a time saver, and I'm very pleased with it Attached Images

Reply:fla jim:  Thats a full garage!  Looks like some really cool stuff in there.  Do your neighbors treat you like you're from a different planet?  Or do you have some that are always needing your "help!"Mine around here think I'm the "nut" of the neighborhood, and I may be.  Probably because I would rather be doing something instead of just watching tv.JMB:  Thanks, I read all the posts about a PM300.  From what they said in their posts, sounds like I should at least see what that guy might want to sell his PM300 for.
