First of all I am an amature welder who builds grills, BBQ pits and other non-critical stuff for around the house. I have a HH175 and have only used flux core welding wire for the the past year or so. I was in a funky position welding one day and realized that I could see much better without the slip on nozzle covering the tip. Will welding without the nozzle on do any harm, like not let me be albe to use gas in the future? Is this the only concern? I have been welding without it for a few months and have probably all ready caused what ever damage may occur.
Reply:it won't do any harm just be careful not to touch the exposed side (where the tip screws in) to your workpiece since it's got power to it, especially in tight places.how about some pics of those grills ! - jack
Reply:we run fluxcore wire on a 135 miller and we dont use the nozzle do to welding in tight areas, i have noticed no ill effects
