These are going on a "Oversized Trike"...............Don't ask me I don't know.. Some sort of parade thing???The spoked rims are the originals..Here's the rim we will be adding..We had to split the rims...Now lose 3" from the middles and reweld..Clamped and ready to go..Next post.....zap!Last edited by zapster; 09-28-2007 at 04:43 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Seeing the rims are machined and not cleaned the way I like them here's what I'm doing..Seam..I acetoned the outside and just tacked them in 10 places..Now we grind the surfaces on the inside..And from there I'll weld the inside first..Then I'll grind the outside and weld that also..Then they will go back into the machine and the inner weld will be machined so the spoked rim will fit inside..There is about .060 that needs to go so it will fit nice nice..But that will have to wait untill tomorrow because I'm home now..More as we go.....zap! Reply:I used to fix a lot of my bent up race wheels like you are doing these wheels. Cut out the bad section of one wheel (usually the bead area) and cut up the donor wheel, true em up and weld away. The race wheels are cheap enough now that I just toss them in the scrap pile when we bend em up. But boy does it bring back unwanted memories. Reply:So the spoked rim goes inside the wheel you made?   Its gonna look nice.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Shouldn't be any problem truing that wheel with spokes as they are pretty forgiving letting you push and pull them to submission.  I've laced and trued up plenty of "less than perfect" rims in the past for poorboy Harley guys.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene

Reply:OK back to this job..After machining the width was suddenly short by 1/2 inch on each side..So some flatstock was rolled to take up the slack..Rim with rolled material..Weld area (both sides)..To make even tacks just use a piece of stock and a marker...Tacks..Inner rim welded..Next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
