Does anyone know the/a procedure for welding sheet metal. I was recently on a job, where a two story commercial building had a single strap of galvananized about 6 in. wide pretty much wrapped around the entire building. One strip around first story, and another for the second story. The strips were a couple hundred feet long apiece, so they needed to be welded together. The material was about a 14 guage, give or take a guage. At the joint, was a piece laid behind it about foot long and couple in. wider to make joint. So it was a fillet weld. I didn't have the proper cert for this according to the inspector, but he let me do it anyway. Anyone know the proper cert or procedure for this?
