I have a cheap crapsman mig welder and I''m doing some work on the floor pans of my car. My question is what should I adjust if the wire turns turns to a red strand and basically falls onto the surface. I cleaned the surface as best I could but still cant get a good bead. I treid turning up the heat but it started burning through. I am pretty new to welding so any help would be greeatly appreciated. Thanks in advanceI bent my wookie
Reply:Check to be sure that your work is clean and that you have a good ground.
Reply:I'd bet on a grounding problem.Quit trying to learn on the car; Get some scrap metal, and learn how to run a bead out in the open where you can easily operate the machine.Set up some differing joynts with the scrap and learn how to make the welds. After you're done with that, go to work on the car.Appreciation Gains You Recognition- |
