Does anyone know where I can get some 2" NPT aluminum weld on bungs?Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:I suspect you're already aware of at least parts of the below, but in any case:-they are extremely easy to get the threads ruined bycareless, final installation of the mating male threaded part.-I check the thread fit, cleanliness, chase, graphite spraybefore welding in, then do the same after-I insist on customer letting ME do the assembly install ofthe mating part--to avoid them screwing it up and thenblaming the bung welding job:-checking, cleaning/chasing male threads, graphite spraying, then assembling with appropriate pipe dope-teflon based preferred.-for timing the position of electric pumps, valves, outlets in a 2" FPT flange, using a 2" conduit locknut is wholly handy--as opposed totrying to time the fitting prior to welding, which is still a guessinggame for a bunch of reasons.Last edited by dave powelson; 10-26-2010 at 05:55 PM.Reason: additionBlackbird
Reply:Thanks for the link. They sure are proud of their stuff at McMaster. Any other cheaper sources? Also, I have welded many of those fittings. Mostly for fuel tanks which is what I'm bidding on this time around. I've been fortunate enough not to have any cross-threading issues. Appearance wise, conduit locknuts would not fly.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
