Reply:I use metal cored wire at work in .045 and .052 diameter. I think I would buy a more common brand if I was inclined to try it.Some caveats: You really need the correct tri-mix of gas to get the full effect. Metal cored wire was designed to increase deposition rates. If you get porosity the swiss cheese effect will go right through your weld rather than just on the surface. I can understand the use of it in a high production environment. It has all the advantages of flux core but behaves like hard wire with slightly more glass on the surface. The metal core wire I have used is intended for spray transfer. I have never heard of it being used on little 110 units.
Reply:The data sheet for this wire calls for 75/25 not Tri-Mix.
