Hi, I just got my HH180 the other day and have been playing with it, but am having trouble getting a nice looking bead. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to control the gun (as in move the tip in circles or weve it back and forth or what?)in order to make the nice overlapping bead look that I see on more experienced welders beads. I know I am never gonna get tig quality, but I have some welds on a trailer done by a friend of mine a few years back that look really nice, and I am trying to re-create them. I just get these straight round continuous beads right now. Lots of penetration, but it balls up real high at the beginning, and then flattens out toward the end. I am currently playing with stuff that is a little thinner than 1/8". There are some pics of my beads on the thread below titled "got my HH180", but no one responded to them. If anyone can help or give any suggestions, I would appreciate any input. Thanks-"If at first you don't succeed... get a bigger HAMMER"HH180
Reply:I also have been getting the shiny "glass" slag in between ripples of some of the welds when I move the tip back into the puddle to try and create the stacked dime formation, is this because I am not cleaning the metal properly, or is my gas flow too low. I am running it at 25 CFH right now, but Hobart never gave a guideline for that. Any help... thanks-"If at first you don't succeed... get a bigger HAMMER"HH180
Reply:gas flow is good,  really practice is the best solution, i remember seeing a picture with a diagram of weaving the gun, i'll look for it.StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
