Reply:HH125 is a piece of crap.. if you spring for the $150 more you can get the hh140 that is set up for FCAW AND GMAW both. You don't want to waste your money, or you will just be disappointed in the long run. If you are gonna blow that much, you might as well go all the way and spend a few dollars more. or go for a lincoln or MM model, stay away from the ebay cheapies...
Reply:I love my mm175 - If you want small don't buy lesss than the Hobart 135/140.A lot of guys at Hybrid Z forum tried cheapies and got bad results, parts out of stock, etc.Bought quality and never looked back.

Reply:EVWELDER,There are a lot of machines out there for light duty welding in the price range you specify.  You need to evaluate carefully what you want to do, and what you may want to do later.  If you fall into the same trap that many of us have, you'll want to build bigger stuff later on, and won't have enough welder to do it!!A big factor in purchasing a machine is customer support post-sale.  Hobart and Miller are excellent; Clarke, Panasonic, and some other low-end suppliers are not, although they have a significant following.I started with a Millermatic 135.  It's about twice what you want to pay, but it is sweet.  Unfortunately, the welding bug has infested me severely, and in August I'm buying a MM210 so I can do what I said earlier - build bigger stuff!!Whatever you decide, be happy, and be well.hank
Reply:i am seriously thinking about something in the mm210 range, going through the hobart vs miller fight in my head....StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:It's out of your price range but I'm very happy with the MM175 I bought. Will weld some pretty heavy guage steel too.
Reply:I had a little piece of junk welder.   I couldn't take it anymore.  So i spend way more that I should.   I decided if I was going to spend the money, i was going to spend the money.  I went and bought a Miller 210 w/3035 spool gun.   I didn't want to hold up my creative mine because of my equipment.   Its worth the money to buy a bigger welder than what you need now.   Because someday you will need it.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:Vipermanz:Spend the xtra for the Miller - you get more for your money.
Reply:Thanks for all the info I've been talking with my welding supply guy he says he can get me a new hobart 140 for around $468 please let me know if thats a reasonable price for this machine. Also the machine comes with a cart if that makes a diffrence.
Reply:That's a great price!Cyberweld=$499welders-direct=$525e-bay=$505 Buy it Now.You won't regret it...
Reply:Thanks I believe I will buy it !!
Reply:Vipermanz, for anything in the 210 class and above, GET THE MILLER.  BIG differences. And yeah, they guy said $300, so he limited himself.  Don't get on Vipermanz' case when he picked the best $300 machine. But yes, the lowest machine out there that should be seriously considered is the HH135 or HH140.  It's gonna cost a bit more than $300, but you get twice the machine.  Along the same line, if you swing the HH175/180 for even a bit more, you get twice the machine of the 135/140.  This will do anything a hobbiest needs for the best value.
