Well, here's a few pics of a kitchen towel hanger I had to fix in order to have it properly fit on my cabinets:For further details on the project, go ahead and check out the full thread on my site.http://www.improvised-engineering.co....php?f=10&t=26--Wintermute
Reply:Tools: Dremel cut-off wheel, milling machine, TIG welder.  Plus misc vises, clamps, hand tools, etc, etc.Result: Bracket that fits.   "Honey, look!  I fixed the paper-towel holder brackets."Bracket: $25Tools to fix bracket: +$1000How come you didn't dress-up those crappy looking factory welds from the flat bar stock to the rod?   Everything (well, almost everything) is fixable to someone with a welder.  And a machine shop.I probably just would have pounded the top of the brackets flat and then rebent them to the desired size.  Or put spacer blocks on the back side of the bracket to make them fit the doors.   But your way works too. Reply:I love my parrellel clamps. Nice work.
Reply:Good job Wintermute, nothing wrong with having the tools/equipment and enjoying playing with. Having a quality built product when your done is a bonus. If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:nifty little fix... that thinner stuff can get to be a real pain when welding... especially on the edges.Later,Andy
Reply:I would like to thank you all for the kind comments regarding a simple project.  In regards to the thinner stuff, I've found it's pretty easy to do with the Dragster 85 (I just turn it way down and go slow and steady, even works wonderfully on 1/32 and 1/64 stainless).SWells: Keep posting those awsome projects you are working on, I love the work you are doing on the model truck, and your grinder stand was a really nice piece of ingenuity.  I'll keep checking them out as you get em up on the forum.  --Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow
Reply:Thanks Wintermute, I plan on doing some more work on the truck tonite. I'll keep the pics coming. Here's a link to my metal eagle that I need to get back after.http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=6957PS. I checked out your home page, you have a pretty impressive shop set up.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Thank you SWells.  My shop has been slowly building over a number of years (my wife is slightly less than pleased on a regular basis when new tools show up).  My next major purchase is going to be a bigger better lathe, but I still have about 30 projects that I have to finish before I can think about picking that up.  The metal eagle project you posted is really slick, I can't wait to see it fully complete and on display. As a side note, if anyone wants to use my forum (www.improvised-engineering.com) to post any projects etc... which aren't appropriate for this forum, go ahead and register and post them.  I also allow picture uploads directly to my forum.--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow
