I have a relatively low cost welding cart for a Diversion 180 TIG welder. The front caster wheels are each attached to the cart with four bolts. A bolt runs through the rubber wheel on each of the casters. By someone's design, the threads on the bolt are in contact with most of the hole in the center of the rubber wheel. Through use, this has caused a large hole to be worn where there used to be a small hole through the center of the rubber wheel. The caster assembly no longer operates very well so I am looking at alternative for fixing or replacing the casters. I am considering gluing a bushing in the hole in the rubber wheel.I am also considering replacing the caser with one of a different design. What might be a good caster (source and part number) for this type of application.ThanksLauran

Reply:Your bushing idea is a good one, and so is Turk's suggestion. If you decide to buy casters, look in the "welding projects" forum for a recent post with "castors" in the title. You'll find more than enough info and suggestions on where to buy some. The casters I've bought in the past have been spec'd by wheel diameter, load range, and wheel type. A lot of them have common bolt patterns, too.
