Reply:Looks good!!  I'm not sure on paint, but there is high-heat engine paint up there, and I even saw paint that withstands 1500 degrees at Ace Hardware here, I believe it's manufactured specifically for things like fire pits!  Best of luck!Have a Jeep Cherokee?  Click Here!
Reply:That really looks great. I would like to offer one suggestion; you might want to make a trap door, or pull out ash pan, to get rid of the ashes??? Maybe you can make a cool looking ash scoop to go with it. Post pic if you do. Good job. Thanks for the pics.
Reply:loking good you can use that high temp bbq paint but eventually it will burn off
Reply:Heat it dull red then rub it with beeswax.Makes a nice black finish that will last and last.Old blacksmith trick.
Reply:Looks sweet, I'd think about adding a trim strip around the top of the grate just to finish it off. I would also leave it un-pained, just bead-blast it and let it patina.
Reply:thanks for the advice, i'm not quite finished with it yet!!i iwll keep you posted!!Charliesmom
