Been watching the forum here for a while now since i bought myself a welder (Lincoln 140C) and pulled a few ideas together for a cart of my own.  Wanted to post a couple of pictures of it now that its done...well almost, I have yet to wire in an outlet box with extension cord. Most of the welds are not that great, but I had a couple of decent ones...half the time i was trying to get the feed and voltage set right, but i'm starting to get the hang of it now.  I realize now that clean is the only way to go, most of these parts were still painted when i welded.  I have $5 (purchased through work) in the casters, and the rest of the material was scrap...two bed frames, parts from an old tiller, some plywood, and various junk lying around.  I don't have the chop saw in the barn yet, so all the cuts were free hand with a die grinder.  Hence the ugliness.  A lot of fun, and its functional to boot.  Keep up the good posts here, its keeps us newbies motivated. Reply:the design looks really great! maybe a little more heat or more wire speed and less voltage. im no mig expert, i like stick welding, but thats just how they seem. for a first project the welds are pretty good. how much practice on scrap have you done? its the only way youll ever get really good. next youll want a welding table.http://datingsidorsingel.com/
Reply:more wire speed and back off the juice and your good.    Looks good mate.Come try it out and stay a while.
Reply:Nice job for a first project.    You might want to consider moving the front casters outward such that the caster swivel point is inline with the rear wheels.   You might have to add brackets to do this.    It will make the cart more stabile having the front contact points with the floor further toward the corners.Keep it up and be sure to post your next project. There are no small projects
Reply:Keep it up, you'll get it. I like the design though.Ideas Without Action are Folly
Reply:Thanks guys.  I did a little bit of welding in college (2 hour workshop and some misc. practice) mostly TIG, but nothing since.  My brother and I played for about 10 minutes on some scrap and then I got antsy and started the cart.I had thought about moving the casters out, but after rolling the cart around some it's pretty stable as is...of course it will only take it teetering on two wheels once for me to change my mind!  Thanks again for all the suggestions guys, and i'll try to get that voltage and feed dialed in.  I'll be sure to post the next projectHappiness belongs to the self-sufficient.                                                       -AristotleKill Your Television
