How about a favorite jig topic area.  I will start it out with an odd one that I did many years ago.  I needed to bend some bar stock and some rebar for fabrication.  I was making from one to three foot diameter circles for different projects.  I had an old very heavy cement mixer that had a large pulley on it.  I rounded up a large wooden end of a heavy wire spool and several smaller spools free from a local electric utility company.  I mounted the largest wooden spool to the pulley with  some u-bolts and counter-sunk the bolt heads.  I thin attached the smaller  diameter spool ends depending upon what size I needed to bend.  Obviously I pulled of the belt and rotated it by hand.I used various ways to attach the bar including just drilling and screwing the end to the wooden round.  It worked really good and I used it for years until my wife got tired of looking at the old cement mixer and I sold it.  I wish I had taken pictures of it.Jim
Reply:I have a jig for making strut braces for an MKII MR2.  I also have a jig that is used atleast once a week for making fence with the pickets being 1/2" in size and 4" gap I took a 20' length of 1"x1/4" flat stock and cut it into 2 8' lengths (my table is 8'x4')  and then took some scrap 1/2" sq. flatbar and welded pieces on oth sides of each picket to keep the picket from moving side to side.  Then I weld it to the table and set the jig for the size of fence I am doing then lay my parts and weld it up until I have a fence panel.if you look closeley you can see the fence jig on the table.

Reply:yeah thats what happens whenyou use murratic acid in your shop and the fumes linger. and kill any kind of coating your metal has on it.
Reply:My favoite jig is the one we made up for piercing frame rails for a trailer. The C chanel cross members pierced the 2 main I beams in the center. Had a friend with a CNC plasma table burn a 1/8" plate with the C chanel profile + width of my plasma cutter offset. Cut the plate to fit the web of the I beam so that the top of the C cut would be the right height. Clamp in place and burn the hole. move to next location and repeat. I also made one for coping the outside C chanels. I loaned the jigs to someone, so I can't post picts right now but will try to get them back.
Reply:When I hear the word "jig", I think of one of these!Mostly I cut off the trebles and pinch on big single "Siwash" hooks, I really like the stainless hooks too! City of L.A.
