Ive been welding for about a year now and i think its time for me to test....my question is if I took a 6G test will that certify me in the 1-5G tests or will I have to work my way up from 1G thru 6G?? might be kinda of a dumb question but its got me thinkin thanks yall
Reply:If your going through school?I would of hoped you'd of been testing along the way, certifying as you go.Nonetheless, It's assumed that if you can pass a 6g that you can pass the rest as well.As it's regarded as the most difficult position due to the positioning and stringer cap.1g horizontal rotating2g vertical5g horzontal fixed6g 45* fixedGL on the test1981 Lincoln SA 200Miller Trailblazer 302gMiller 211 Mig Welder w/ AutosetI'm learning to stick metal together
Reply:What/for whom are you considering testing for. Every test I've ever taking for pipe has been 6g or a 12" on 12" saddle test.
Reply:im jus testing cuz id like to have paper work, I do most of my work for a drilling company tho
Reply:6" sch 80 or 2" sch 160 6g pipe test should cover everything you would encounter
Reply:Just because you can pass a 6g test does not mean you can weld a 5g position. Many employers are going back to 2 tests (2g, 5g) or a flip flop which is both on one test. 6g will get you a job, but how well you weld 5g in position will allow you to keep your job.UA Local 598
