Does anyone have reasons why they would buy one or the other?    Lincoln has a 250 amp output max vs. the Miller's 210.      Lincoln has their "Diamond core technology" arc.....is it really any better arc than the Millermatic 210?Red or blue on this size mig welder?    Which is better?      Are they the same?
Reply:I am looking at the lincolin P215 becaus it has a better wire feed system. It has a tackometer that sences the drag and increases the power feed as need. also has better rollers.
Reply:yes, I heard also that the feed system is better somewhere else, too.I wonder about the Lincoln  "diamond core technology" arc?   Does anyone know if this really is anything or is it just marketing mumbo-jumbo ??
Reply:215 the five amps are better
Reply:I don't think I'd buy the Lincoln just to get 5 more amps.  215 over 210 probably is not  going to be noticeable to me.     People on the Miller forum rave about how good Miller's support is....now THAT gets my attention.    The only one time I ever emailed a tech question to Lincoln's tech people, I never even got an answer....THAT does not impress me as customer support.    Miller's support may swing me that way.    The only way I would buy the Lincoln is if I thought it was superior.     Guess I will have to demo them both.     Being that I want to buy over the internet, that may not be so easy to do.   Hate to go into a local dealer and act like I will buy when I know I probably won't.
Reply:well whenever i call lincoln they get right on the prob and they have even sent me free parts and mauals so i cant complain. there both good machines. just find a dealer that u lik eand buy witch ever one they have and ask if u can try it out
Reply:Well there's the problem: don't email questions. They have hundreds of other ones to worry about and can't always answer them. Pick up the phone and call! I've had 100% support on both my ESAB MultiMaster 250 and my Lincoln PT185 via phone.
Reply:ok....I guess one dropped email doesn't mean I should totally condemn Lincoln's support.
Reply:The Lincoln Power Mig 215 also has the 110volt recepticle mounted on the machine for concience of the user to run power tools from the machine instead of having to run extension cords over a distance.  I have dealt with Lincoln customer service and have had no complaints with them.  I have owned both Miller and Lincoln but at this time would pick Lincoln over Miller since the latter has been bought out by ITW and it has been rumored that Miller is cutting expenses in its manufactoring of their products.  Like I say, its rumor, but it comes from a Miller supplier I do bussiness with.  So I would rather see red than be blue.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
Reply:Also, Im not sure if the MillerMatic 210 has the fan on demand type of cooling system or not, but when Miller first introduced this type of cooling system they had problems with it not activating.  This happening, Miller had to do a considerable amount of warranty work repairing damaged systems and burnt up machines.  This comes from a Miller dealer.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
Reply:Interesting info....appreciate that.    That aux. power recep. is something else I am wondering about....Lincoln's specs for the PM 215 quote an input draw of 35 amps when welding at the 170 amp output with rated duty cycle of 60% (230 volt), but they add that this is when  the 115v aux.  receptacle is loaded to 15 amps.    If you had NOTHING plugged into the aux. recep, what does that mean the input amps will now be to the machine?   I'm not so sure you can just subtract the 15 amps from the 35 for 20 amps input because the supply is at 230v and the aux recep. is at 115v.Also....does anybody know if "Diamond Core Arc" technology really IS something, other than marketing?    They say it gives a more robust, forgiving arc for varying stickout lengths.   Anybody know anything about this?
Reply:Good question on the amp draw, sorry cant really answer that one.  Also, cant speak for the "Diamond Core Arc" either, dont know about it.  I suggest calling Lincoln tech and get them to answer your questions.  They have been helpful for me in the past.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
Reply:I'll call them.....I'll post back what they say.
Reply:Rainman, You really can't go wrong with any of these machines. Recommend you take these girls for a test drive at your dealer. Yes I've heard that the Lincoln's feed system is better than the 210's. Miller tends to sell themselves short on the power output of the 210. It is underated and puts out more output than advertised. Miller gets the nod for customer service...Check out this Miller forum website. Lincoln does'nt have one...http://www.millermotorsports.com/mbo....php?forumid=3Millermatic 210Dynasty 200DX Fisher CZ-5Trek 5500
Reply:I am not saying miller or lincoln- I have heard the newer lincoln wire feeders are better than the millers, and they sure have the jump on miller in terms of coming out with a product, then having miller come out with one with the same features a year later. But two things were said that are a little misleading- first- "fan on demand"- I have a 1989 Miller regency power supply with fan on demand, run daily since then, and the fan never broke- so fan on demand is neither new, nor particularly susceptible to breakage.Second- Illinois Tool Works bought Miller in 1993. So any problems due to ITW are at least 12 years old. The widow Miller died in 92 or so, and her remaining family members decided to sell then. I personally did not notice any big change in service or quality in the early 90's with Miller.
Reply:I've never had a problem with the fan on demand systems either
