Semi Truck Rim Crusher & Tire shear

this is a big undertaking and it has been consuming a bit of my time for the last 2 weeks and will for about another two weeks or so, never the less here is the beginning of the semi truck rim crusher and tire shear for old junk tires and rims, all hydraulic, currently as of tonite it weighs about 2 tons and will weigh 5-6 when completed, here are some pictures:welding the main slide section:the push plate tacked to the main slide (overall legnth is 18' long) the 2" thick plate steel shear brackets are all welded up in this picTom torching some **** off that we decided we dont needhere is the cylinder attaching point for the push plate, the head is finally done being welded short of the upright welds that are missing, I am going to flip it on its side to finish welding everything that is vertical the cylinders layed out and mounts tacked in placeprogress so far:total time welding 18 hours, fabrication & scrounging the yard for steel time 45-50 hours so far.... I will post update pics

So that's were the rubber meets the (end of) the road!Curious what ultimately separates the tire from the rim?Does the machine bend the rim flange, or just use brute power to peel the tire?Same technique for tube and tubeless assemblies?Is the shearing a separate operation?I built a car tire de-rimmer, that pushed apart 1000's and 1000's.The machine itself would press three a minute, no problem, but it was difficult to keep up the feed rate, and scrap removal at those speeds. I had an idea for truck rims, with focus on bending just the rim flange.Keep us posted!
Reply:Nice work. I know a guy that has a horizontal bailer for bailing tires. He got out of the tire disposal business. And the bailer is almost brand new. If you are interested I'll check it out.Joewww.CummingsHauling.com
Reply:Your posing with a mig gun to the contrary, I'd of thought such thick plate would be stick welded.  Next time, don't forget the dime.
