Century Welders?

I've found a new century welder 180 for a very good price but I want to hear if they are good welders or am I getting what I'm paying for? What thickness will they do? Anyone have one of these I would love to hear from you. I see myself making treestands and possibly welding on a trailer or 2. Thanks James
Reply:It might help if you posted pictures of it or at least gave some better description. Many of us don't know all the makes and models of brand name machines, let alone the less common ones. Is that one a MIG, just a stick welder, or what?If you don't have a shot of the actual unit, you might be able to find one of that model online.
Reply:Sorry. It's a Century Mig 180. It says its made by Lincoln. It's the welder in the northern tool catalog. I'll try to attach a pic. Just wondering if anyone has used one of these. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. Attached Images
Reply:I just got that welder as an Christmas gift to myself, but I haven't had a chance to put a bead down with it yet.From my observations, research and visual comparisons, this welder is the exact same welder that Lincoln built under the name SP-175.- MIG Gun is a Lincoln Magnum 100L- Cart is a Lincoln cart- Regulator even comes in a Lincoln box- Case and internal parts are all Lincoln as well.- Serviced and warrantied by Lincoln (same 3 year warranty)- Consumables are all Lincoln part numbersI plan on having a welder buddy of mine give me his opinion on the welder, but so far I really think this welder has a lot of bang for your buck..I also only paid $443.00 drop shipped to my door from Lincoln for the whole kit..Here's the SP 175

Reply:I dont know bout that one, but my friends had an issue while welding, I looked at it, it appeared to have been through a dumpster fire, but the issue was swapped wires. Polarity was wrong.
