O/A help needed

I've been trying my hand a O/A welding (someday I would like to learn to TIG and thought I should start here).  I'm welding material about 1/8" thick, I'm not sure of the size of the tip I'm using as I cannot find any markings on it.  My pressures are set to about 5-7 PSI each.  I can develope a good controlable weld puddle and I can burn through if I try.  My problem is that the filler material, which is copper coated steel from Weld-it, developes a ball on the end of it and doesn't really fill all that well.  My welds are all concave. It seems as though the filler isn't really melting its just pushing the puddle around.Also, can anyone recomend good regulators, mine show a very large scale, I guess they are made for cutting maybe. But they came with the welding tips.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.Let's try it this way!!!! No, Really, It'll work...maybe.

Reply:I believe that you are holding your rod a little to close. You keep it close enough to keep it hot but not close enough to melt it causing the ball on the end of the rod. Hold the flame tip on the metal until you can see a puddle forming, than add the filler rod to form your weld. Keep moving adding filler as you go.[ a little dab will do ya] Make sure you have a netural flame! I wouldn't use flux when welding steel. The flame keeps the air from reaching the metal.Digr
