okay people... i have these:the 2 purple ones and the gray one are still there... the teal one was used on my BBQ project, which i finally got finished. i'll update that thread after i get pictures.anyway, i also have a small pile of cash laying around to get a few small pieces of steel... long story short, i'm bored, broke, and have a welder to play with, so what should i build? i'd like to make something practical and useful, like a BIG BBQ (maybe hook 2, or maybe all 3 of the barrels together), but i know i would never use anything that big, so what are some other ideas? i've also thought about a smoker (funny how everything seems to revolve around food with me huh? lol) and i have thought about making a barrel heater, but i'm not really sure where i'd put it... especailly after i get my garage heater installed.any ideas fella's?Later,Andy
Reply:parts washer, concrete mixer, scrap metal bin
Reply:I once made a rotating composter out of a 55 gallon barrel for a neighbor.  The idea is that the compost happens faster if you keep it stirred up, and rotating the drum on a crank is easier than turning over a pile with a fork.  Don't know how well it works or how long the drum last before it rusts through.  Might be fun if you have a small garden to tend.
Reply:thanks for the responses guys!hmmm... i never thought about a composter Pulser. these are food-grade, epoxy-lined barrels too, so i don;t think rusting would be much of an issue. my girl wanted to have a little garden/flower bed anyway, so i have a feeling that a composter would be a nice little project.that still leaves me with 2 more barrels tho... what other ideas you guys got for me?Later,Andy
Reply:barrel heat,,,and smoker
Reply:You are totally overlooking the obvious here. A half-barrel baby bed! Or how about a carriage? A little baby rocker.... Endless possibilities here.Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!
Reply:But please make sure that they have not ever held any flammable liquids.  I can't even get anymore empty drums from Sherwin-Williams because some fool in Texas blew himself up. If anyone reading this is related to that fool, then please accept my condolences.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Lincoln Electric Weld Pak 3200HD Wire Feed WelderHypertherm Powermax 30 Plasma CutterLincoln Electric Port-A-Torch
Reply:naw... these held honey for a local bee farm. they are lined with food grade epoxy (it stinks like poo when it's burned), and it is not flammable itself... it just stinks. there are a few dings and dents in each one from usually wear and tear, but when i picked them up, i told the guy i wanted the 4 nicest barrels he's got. i was thinking of using them as a base for a small welding table, but i'm not sure that i want to do that yet. i may wait to do any sort of welding table until i can do it the right way.Joe... i was thinking of just that!!! Baby furniture... my girl wouldn't be too happy tho. there is still a little bit-o-honey in them. she got mad at me when i tasted it... i don;t even want to know what she would do if i laid a baby in it... then had to lick her clean. lolkeep the ideas comming guys... i know a guy or two has made something out of barrels before... let's seen some pics and plans!Later,Andy
Reply:Hey what about a tool Cabinet or something! like a round tool locker or something, Or make it into a toy horse for the kid she can sit on it and play all day if she liked haha. your little horse barrel racer lol. or get a couple more and weld them together and make a boat. two pontoons on either side with a square tube frame on top with treated plywood for the floor, now that would be cool, i think i could use a red neck raft too now that i think about it... i feel smart today lol.Last edited by Doug247; 04-04-2008 at 07:10 PM.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:Wood burner for garage.I know, you said you already had garage heat covered, but this gives you an excuse to run a chainsaw.I'd be stretching to say I have twenty bucks in mine. Attached Images
Reply:Make a floating dock for Zap, if his doesn't show upYup
Reply:Throw a barrel up on some cinder blocks, fill it with water, build a fire underneath and you got yourself a redneck hot tub!!
Reply:Barrels, hmmm...you could raft two together and swim for shore after a big shark eats your boat! Originally Posted by BurnitMake a floating dock for Zap, if his doesn't show up
