has anyone on here built a small steel gate from scratch? looking for ideas for designs in the scrollwork and tips on how to twist square stock for decorative purposes. thanks guys
Reply:twist - rosebud tip on propane torch... get the rod clamped in good and tight, heat to red-hot and twist until your heart is content.as far as ideas, go to King Metals and get them to send you an ideas/sample book. i ordered one and since then, my dad stole it for work. LOTS and LOTS of great ideas in there and it points out what pieces to buy in order to make the gate that you want. you may be able to get the same pictures on their website too... i'm not sure... never really checked.Later,Andy
Reply:thanks for the tips. as far as twisting, to get it to twist in opposite directions in different segments, would i just heat up segments individually

Reply:Originally Posted by tanky321If the square stock is small, say 1/2" you can twist it without heat. Make up a bracket to hold the end, with some handles on it. Put the other end in a vise, and you can twist it rather easily.
