Reply:Uhhhhhh,,,,,,  Zap????????    You have a problem with other guys conducting a get-together???????     Jealous????????   Why??????? I mentioned this one was three days long?????   Start at 7AM finish approx 10PM????    SO much more info than you can get in a half day ......  and back-and-forth discussions .....    different things work for different people ....   especially business-wise, and it was fascinating to find out how different guys manage their businesses ......   and I, for one, got some very good ideas about which direction to take my future business.   Being in a very physical occupation, and getting older, and a little worn-out, this was to me priceless .....This little "get together" we had, will probably be an annual event here in the West, it'll probably be moving around a little, not sure yet where next year's is gonna be.  If enough people here express interest, it'll probably be publicized, but that's the host's (whoever he may be) perogative, I cannot make any promises.I will also note, there's another little "bash" scheduled for this fall, in Tennessee somewhere, or maybe Kentucky, don't remember ......   multi-day, mucho equipment available, stick and wire will be emphasized, also the host has promised a good sampling of the local cuisine ......    I'd post up the contact info, but it's really not my place, if the host wishes to he will do so.   If anybody shows any interest here, it might encourage him to do so .....In the pure sense of the word, these are not "classes", more of a free exchange of ideas and methods,  even the couple of "newbies" that attended, had some useful contributions, and everybody learned from everybody else.  None of the experienced, skilled guys tried taking over, and dominating the event.  BUT, if you are unfamiliar with a process, and want to learn, I guarantee you will learn more in the two or three days here than you can anywhere else.  Nobody was "charged" anything, whether food, materials, or consumables.   Several of us chipped in a few hundred bucks each previously, to insure one very valued participant would make it out there, the excess went to help pay for the incidentals.Last edited by mark8310; 06-01-2008 at 03:08 PM.
Reply:And what's with the "banter" complaint?????    Your "banter" is ok, because, well, it's from you, of course,,,,,,,   but MY banter isn't ??????    Why not?????????  Just asking .....
Reply:Mark let me know about the one in Tn or KY....(hahahaha I said KY)....I could probably make one if it was out that way....

Just read thru the last three or four pages of YOUR posts,,,,,,   just saw a bunch of fluff, nothing substantial, except the recommendation to somebody to grind/fill the hole or crater he left ......   Good Job!!!!!   Zap !!!!     But he already did it before you posted, so it don't count ........and oh, yeah, the yard looks ok .......
Reply:Zap, you should know by now that no good deed will go unpunished.

Reply:Hey Zapster:I show this page to my friends and they all pick me out as the one 'just standing around' and not doing anything.I'll remember next time to make certain you take pictures of me WELDING!  -MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.

Reply:Originally Posted by adrian_TNo safety glasses.....just a welding auto darkening hood. You can see in the pics how the thermal arc would keep flashing me. My right side of my neck had a nice amount of sunburn (uv burn  :P ) from that. It only bothered me that day and evening...after sleeping it off I'm all healed up.
Reply:Just wanted to say thanks to Zap and Monarch Machine Works.  I had a great time and learned a lot.  I am looking forward to the next 'class,'  which will be my third.  Anyone who is thinking of attending, should really make the effort.  Zap is not only good (OK really really good) at welding, he is also really enthusiastic and a pleasure to hang out with. THANKS!
