I need to add welds to my sandrail frame. Most of the tubing is 1/16" wall 1.25 OD mild steel tubing. I'm about to add a 3/16" plate for a shock mount. can this be done with a small tig machine? I have not purchased a welder yet, still undecided. I have some MIG experience, but no TIG experience, but a friend to show me how to TIG. I hear good things about the Miller Maxstar 150 tig machine....thats what I'm leaning towards for now.Last edited by YFZ; 11-21-2005 at 10:25 PM.
Reply:it depends on yer budget.....and tig has a harder learning curve....Bonez
Reply:But not to hard, and the finished product looks great.I've got the maxstar 150 myself, a great little machine for the TIG. I use it as my tie in machine on smaller pipe, up to 6". The only let down with them is they struggle a bit to run a 3.2mm 7018, but if you only want it for the TIG it's a good way to go.Stephen
Reply:Work with a seasoned TIG welder to mount your part |
