HelloI just got a miller sidekick that came with a full roll of lincoln super arc l-56 .25, which is supposed to use shielding gas, I dont have any gas, will this weld at all with out gas, if i change to flux core which will probably be a larger diameter, do i have to change rollers, liner, nozzle tip?thanks mike in texas
Reply:Hey Mike,I generally use .030 S- 6 w/C25 in my Sidekick in the shop for the thinner(<.187) repairs I get in. It is a superb unit & has never had an issue in all the years I have used it. The roller is only single groove for .023 or .030 dia wire. You can use the L56 dual shield you have w/C25, .030 regular flux-core, or ER70S-6 solid w/C25 gas on the same roller. That is all the Sidekick was designed for. Keep it within these parameters, & it will serve you well. DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab.
