Hello guys/gals..I just purchased my first welder. It is a Lincoln Electric Handy MIG Welder that I got from Sears.I purchased it cause I need to fill some holes in my project car. Nothing too big, but I also need to weld in few extra bars into a roll cage.I was told to not even touch my car unless I hook up the gas. What do you guys recommend?  For what I will be doing? Small holes and such..  Also, I want to practice welding - and wanted to know what is the best way to do this?  Also, welding to pieces together, how do you ground both pieces??.. hehesorry -

Reply:You gots some very sound advice there .   just make sure you have gloves on and a long sleeve shirt...or ya might get a lil burnage IF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:and a welding hood but that should go with out sayingMatt the Alaskan red neck
Reply:welding hood?   you mean something to replace my lil piece of cardboard witha whole in the middle and a filter lens taped to cover it?IF it Catches...Let it Burn
Reply:Second that hood and don't try to use the face shield thet Lincoln throws in the package.  It works for an observer (kinda good for that because it keeps one of their hands busy!!)  I went out and bought a Lincoln autoshade hood at Home Depot $100 then another at the welding store a couple of weeks later(it was on sale)  Autoshade is the way to go especially, for a Newbe(IMHO)Oh yes see my sig   you'll need an angle grinder too!!!Last edited by Pentawelder; 01-09-2006 at 01:52 PM.My angle grinder is my best friend!
