Reply:Hey pipewrench,Reading your query indicates you don't weld, or if you do, not with aluminum, & seek advice for a quality repair. First, as previously indicated, you need to post several different pics of the repair subject so as to illuminate the physical configuration. This will allow the experienced alum. fellows to look at the optimum repair & materials/thicknesses best suited to insure strength & a lasting repair. Ok...your turn. Post some pics & some info. if you are going to do this, or farm it out.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Hey roadkill,You certainly read so much more into the response that was simply a query regarding if the OP had welding experience, as that was not indicated, & if he did, did he have the equipment necessary for the job. There was nothing belittleing the OP in any manner. My response was to allow other members the data furnished to provide sound recommendations. You are another who seem to like to twist a response into a different understanding that was not inferred at all. Get a life.....DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Hey pipewrench,It appears another member feels I have "belittled" you with my 1st response as to if you had any welding experience since you did not indicate that. If so, will you please clarify what it is that you feel "belittles" you in any manner? Another childish flaming thread is not needed here as has been illustrated in other threads. Thanks for your input & understanding of the responses towards your inquiry.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:(Reading your query indicates you don't weld, or if you do, not with aluminum, )this statment has no bearing for an answer.....(& seek advice for a quality repair.) this part indicates like a non welder wants to attempt something he has no business doing...I have a life so I wont play into your insults...
Reply:If you post your location chances are you'll have a much easier time finding a qualified person or repair facility that belongs to this forum in your area. Good luck!
Reply:One thing. Welded aluminum is typically softer than aged or definitly softer than heat treated. If you are thinking about just building up the old aluminum I suspect it will wear faster. Rarely do I see a direct aluminum wear plate. Usually their are pads that should take the wear.Maybe take a look at what roll-back tow trucks use to protect the aluminum bed. Just a thought. As for your specific repair. I would bring it buy a few welding shops until you come to a consensus if its repairable or not.Con Fuse!Miller Dynasty 350Millermatic 350P-Spoolmatic 30AMiller Multimatic 200Hypertherm PowerMax 1000G3Miller Maxstar 200DX
