If your looking for work and are willing to relocate then Northrup Grumman shipbuilding is hiring welders and other related trades for my location and possibly the Alabama location. I know that just in my department alone they are looking for 50 welders and facility wide they will be hiring 1,000 more people this year not including those who quit or get fired so it could easily double. Moneys good for those with little experience and not bad for those with ( you should be able to start out at a decent rate ) and there is overtime right now in a big way specially for fitters. Cautionary note, the biggest reason people loose their jobs there is tardiness and or not showing up for work. Another thing, safety is a very very big issue so if either are a problem then this may not be the place for you.Another place that is hiring is Liebherr for their heavy mine truck manufacturing facility up the road three miles. Most all welding there is done with fluxcore last I heard with a different kind of wire running at a high heat. Good place to work for and they do allot for their employee's like buy them lunch regularly and provide free ice cream and popsicles during the summer to stay cool. Both locations are in Newport News VAhttp://www.liebherr.us/en-GB/default_us-lh.wfwhttps://ngc.taleo.net/careersection/ngc_hrly/moresearch.ftl?lang=en&postdata=$etJO_kOh4X_RkUvbg pWzFw==
Reply:Just an update for the Northrup Grumman company, structural, fitters, and sheet metal are three area's that will be hiring allot. If anyone wants to know about the benefits let me know and I will post what I can.
Reply:The numbers for above are very big, not sure what I can say as to the amount but I will check with the general foreman monday.
Reply:Just wanted to update the thread a bit more. Rough numbers they are looking for is 500+ on the welder platform alone. Prior military get some preference. |
