Hey guys, I'm new here and I know that there isnt much to do with plastic welding, but I thought I would just plug my blog, and if your interested I'll answer any questions you have! This is an entry that I just made, showing off some trays that I built and welded together.http://www.fabandmachine.com/2008/06...ome-trays.html
Reply:Perfect timing, I work with a guy that was asking me the other day if I knew anything about plastic welding. Well I don't so I will ask you and see if you know. My friend has a plastic 55 gallon barrell that he wants to cut in half and plastic weld the top rim back to the bottom half making the barrell about half as tall as original. Question is can this be done on the type of plastic they make barrells out of?That is a really good job on the plastic racks. Could you post some closeups of the welded corners. What type equipment is needed to do that? There are always plastic stuff around my house that gets broken and it would be nice to have the ability to repair it without trying to use glue.
Reply:I'm very curious too... if you have a minute, I'd love to know anything you'd care to share about plastic welding (since I know absolutely nothing about it)Lincoln AC225 & MigPak 140, Lincoln Magnum SpoolGun, Miller Spectrum 375-X Plasma, Syncrowave 200 TIG, Millermatic 252 MIG, Miller Digital Elite, General 7x12" horiz/vert bandsaw, 3' box/pan brake, 20 ton press, milling machine, 12x28 lathe, etc.
Reply:Are those trays going to hold liquid? If so you need to run triple beads down into the corners and "punch" the corner puddle with something like the head of a carriage bolt to seal the corners from leaking. My experience is in polypro fabrication of cleaning and plating tanks.Just my $0.02 worth.*Rick*Having just enough knowledge to be dangerous! |
