Hi,I'm looking for your opinion of the machine in the file attached.Local ( I'm from Hong Kong ) construction worker here called it "Welding Transformer" or just simply "Poorman's welder". The photo was taken at a construction site (and yes,I work there)I've seen that type of welder welding SS (but the results are very ugly, the area around the spot weld is dark and look like burned). But those machine worked very well at working thick structural steel.(that's the reinforcement binded into the concrete or just simply the truss or cantilever connection)Anybody have used it before?? Reply:Looks like a Lincoln
Reply:The heat affected zone bording the weld on stainless does turn black.  It is primarily caused by oxidation and dirty metal, not a bad welder.  Stainless steel welds almost exactly the same as mild steel when using stick (SMAW) electrodes.  Certain factors are more critical such as filler alloy selection and joint design, but everything else is the same as mild steel and no fancy welder is required.
Reply:My opinion:NOT UL Approved.I  assume they also do not have a Chinese version of OSHA.
Reply:Now your making my machines look good
Reply:Now seriously, you may be looking at the most reliable machine there is going. There's not much that can go wrong with that puppy!
