Had to borrow the wifes camera to post these.Just picked this up yesterday. 2000 Lincoln Commander 500D, Deutz diesel, 1744 hrs. Needs a new battery, I used a spare side post for temp. Didn't get much time to play with it yesterday. And today we have a family thing, so sunday you know where I will be!Runs great and it welds. I just tested it with a couple of 5/32 7018 rods really quick. Cranked it up and was cuttin 3/8 with the 7018. I bought it from an Airgas for $2250.00. It sat for a couple of years, it used to be a rental unit. I want to paint it in spring. Original or red??? I prefer red, but I need some input on that. Reply:Have you tried polishing that paint job first?I would leave it the original color. Red would work too , but you will have to get new decals.OR....Paint it Miller blue, and make people's head spin.LOL...Too bad the owners did not take care of it. Reply:Well it was a rental unit for Airgas or AGA. Then they formed Red-D-Arc as their rental and Airgas stopped renting. He told me it sat for 3 or 4 years. The oil looked fresh, but the hours on the filter said something like 15xx hrs. I think. This unit was not up for sale. I went there, because I was in the area, with my new Hobart gas drive to see if they had a polarity switch. I was told that it might be the same as some newer models. So I got to talking with the mechanic and told him I was looking for a CC/CV diesel drive. He showed me this that has just been sitting there. After himmin and haw'n, I ended up with it. Just looking at it I believe the hour meter is correct. I have the same engine in my Ingersoll tow behind compressor which is older and the hour meter says less hours, but the welder runs alot better and has no oil leaks."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! You'll have a hardon that won't go away for a few hours the first time you touch it off. www.billswelderrepair.com Will have the correct paint code. Personally, I would just pop a panel off when it comes time & take it in to a local automotive paint shop. They should be be able to easily match it with a spot on the inner part that isn't weathered.Good luck with it.
