I use .030 wire in my 135 mig which is solid, I was wondering compared to fluxcore which is hollow filled with flux,  what size of solid wire would a .035 fluxcore compare to. (amount of Metal laid down)

Reply:Rough rule-of-thumb is about one 'size' difference between solid and fluxcore wire.So 0.030 solid wire is about equal in 'metal' to 0.035 FCAW wire.If you want more detailed numbers, then go to the listed Lincoln info/spec pages (or whatever wire manufacturer you are looking at) and then run through the deposition rates of the different wires and also possibly the production efficiency of the process being used (FCAW vs GMAW).  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:Thanks, I was just wondering about the comparison.
