Hi everyone new member here.I'm not a professional welder, not even a experienced curious! Many years ago I built some stuff including a RAM tower with an old stick welder, more recently my work bench with a loaned wire feed welder. Now with some other projects to finish; my son's car restoration; and my motorcycle rebuilt, I'm decided to buy a new welder, I know that I want a AC/DC TIG/STICK, 110 or 220V (auto voltage is preferrable) with primary amperage up to 30~40A; so I don't have to spend more money on re-wiring my garage,as everyone else I wan't as much knobs to turn as possible, after reading tons of reviews, I'm between Miller Dynasty 200DX, HTP Invertig 201 and TA-185TSW, seems to me that if price wasn't a problem the Dynasty 200DX is a non-brainer, however with more than a grand of difference (equipped) HTP and TA looks pretty good, despite the potential support issue. I'm trying to find a final argument to go towards TA185, since is the cheaper one, just don't want to regreat later!
Reply:I was deciding between a TA185 and SW200 .. too much thinking/debating/and second guessing so I chose the "non-brainer" AC/DC TIG.I went with a Miller Dynasty 200DX!Here is my thread. http://www.weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=4357Su

While Miller's service is first rate I don't see service as an issue with Thermal Arc. I'm sure you will be happy with any of the three machines.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
Reply:Tailshaft56,Thank you for your feedback, so far I didn't read anything bad about HTP or TA, actually TA doesn't have much info regarding service (what's good!), and all posts regarding HTP service allways are very good, mentioning the care that Jeff Noland and Steve Holzer have with their customers, since both Invertig and TA185 are very close in price and features, I'm trying to make a decision between both this week, the weather in Chicago is getting warmer enough to resume my restoration...
Reply:I also borrowed and modify the file attached to make this decision easier, if anyone has any extra information to add, or new welder selection, fell free to send me . Attached FilesACDC_SinglePhase_TIG_ShoppingGuide.doc (95.5 KB, 40 views)
