This is a mig gun holder I made for my welding table. It slips on anywhere around my table. I am going to drill and tap the bottle so I can put a thumbscrew in the bottom to tighen it anywhere I need to. Attached Images

Reply:You should turn it over to have the gun under the table and out of the way.

Reply:Is that thing strong enough to hold a mig gun?Seriously though... If you were running production, what would you choose for materials? How much of that weld would you really need? It's a great idea! I built 6 of them and welded them under the table, but a couple "moveable" ones would haved served me better. The best things in life all come on a stick!

Reply:I put mine on a magnet from a magnetic ground. That way I could move it quickly. Those magnets are very strong...strong enough a 400a gun won't pull it over at all.

Reply:nice... good idea. theres a holder for a gun on my welder but it always bends up the wire when you put it in. yours looks practicalM Fed
Reply:A magnet on the bottom would be nice so you could clip it on the side or put it anywhere on the table and it would work.

Reply:I'm kinda a newbie here even though I've been a member of this website for awhile. this is my first post. The MIG gun holder is a good idea. I saw this thread last Sunday and on Monday I built a portable one with some scrap material at work. It became a hit at work. Most of our welders are positioned on overhead swing-arms and the "holder" on these swing-arms are just hooks which really don't secure the guns. So now the rage with "government jobs" is building these holders. Some have built thiers to position the gun under the table and others have built ones above the work table. Gone are the hooks and in with the holders! I'll post some pics of mine soon.
Reply:Here is my MIG Gun Holder. I made it from mild steel and the holder is slanted at a 70 degree angle for easier insertion and removal of the gun. I did not weld a washer in the end of it as the tube is longer than the nozzle and bending the .035 wire would not be a problem for me. It took about an hour to gather the materials from the scrap bin and build. Since our shop also uses Powder Coat paints, I had it painted to match most of my custom-made jigs and fixtures. The extended anchor bolts come in handy as an additional grounding connection for my weld table should it be needed when stud-welding bolts onto the parts I'm building that are too small to use a ground clamp directly. Thanks 737Mechanic for the idea! Attached Images
Reply:Good job that looks good, I like the bolts. Mine has been very handy. I move it all the time to where I am working and has been a big time saver.
