Hi there, I am chasing your thoughts on running a 250 amp mig welder with a commercial generator that is advertised to be able to power most 250 amp welders. It would not be used for long periods of time but would be used for repairs to such things as semi trailer running repairs where plateing is approx 6-8 mm & fillets of around 10mm.
Reply:Most migs in that range will want a genset that can provide a continuous 10KW output or better to get the max welding output..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Thanks for your reply DSW. The genset I'm looking @ has a rated output of 10kw with a max output of 12kw. I am looking @ mating that with an inverter type mig as I have read that they draw less current, have less splatter & give an overall better finish to the job |
