I was wondering if anyone out there has used one of these? If so how have they worked for you? What kind of pros and cons have you noticed with it? Thanks
Reply:I can't say I have used the welder in question.I have a Forney Mini Mig 135 that is similar being it is a gas/gasless 120v fluxcore welder.I bought it because it is an inexpensive unit that is backed by a company that has been in welding for a long time.I think my unit is made in China or some other foreign country but it looks to be built well. Not a cheap looking unit at all and has performed excellent for my needs.Hope this helps.Works best with .030 wire instead of .035.
Reply:Also been looking at these units - They seem to be pretty compact and at a great price. SixTurboSix do you know how expensive their gas conversion kit is? or did you make your own? Thanks
Reply:Hi, I am new to the site, but, i just bought a Forney FI 180 for a great price and took it straight home and started welding with it, and I am very impressed. It claims it can weld up to 3/8" steel, so I grabbed some only to find out that they lied. It can do way more, so I grabbed some 1/2" thick c-channel maxed out the settings and went to town on it. It did great, the neighbor couldn't believe it welded it so he tried for an hour to get it to break, but only bent the metal. I haven't used all the different welders, but this one dollar for dollar, compared to millers or even lincolns, is hands down better, IN MY OPTION. Time will tell on its quality, but first impressions where great and got better with every bead. Plus Forney has been around 77 years, so I hope that means they know what they are doing. |
