By the time I get my 'offroad' pig cooker done, the cooking surface will be about 45" off the ground. Need to get it to about 34" above floor level. This cooker will be used mainly for hams and shoulders and butt, and some chickens, not whole pigs. What I am thinking is to build a floor platform, about 8-10" tall. Maybe 3'x6' to lay down on the ground in front of the cooker, to stand on. How about some ideas on how y'all would build this? I'm thinking frame out with 1.5 angle (have laying around), then use either 5/4 boards or heavy expanded metal for the decking.Any ideas, suggestions?
Reply:This is one my brother and I built a few years back for tailgating. Not sure how far off-road you want to go but this one jumps curbs pretty easily and has plenty of room for wood, coolers and even a table. Trailer is 6x10 with the smoker on the back portion and easy to stand in front of and cook. Will get complete dimensions if you want. you can always shorten the trailer to suit your needs. Tried uploading image hope it works.Scott Attached Images |
