I had an opportunity to use a Ready Welder (www.readywelder.com).    I attached it to my mig/stick machine.  I liked running it of DC stick.  The amps from the machine control the heat, while the ready welder has a dial for the wire speed.    Operating it off the mig wasn't appealing because your mig wire feeder is going all the time.  The trigger on your mig gun must be tied, while the wire feed tension roller is disengaged.  The only thing I really dislike about it is that it is live all the time.  Hence, you have to watch where you lay the gun because it will arc.  Though there is an option you can purchase to eliminate the live gun.It does seem to be durable and well constructed.  The gas does go off as the trigger is released.  I don't have any pure argon so I couldn't try it on aluminum.I think it is a good piece of equipment.  I does weld with no problems. It is also well balanced and not too heavy.Anyway hope this helps somebody who might be considering purchasing... It would make a cheap spool gun for welding aluminum.Last edited by tapwelder; 07-10-2006 at 02:28 AM.
