saw this welder gonna weld 16G SS wanted to know what you think of it for the price or any feedback??http://www.cornwelltools.com/webcat/...ith-Foot-Pedal
Reply:Holy BatF**K! For almost $4K you'd be close to the price of a new Dynasty 200DX and just have to add the pedal and torch. You could pick up a nice used Dynasty, add torch, pedal, cylinder and such and probably still save almost a grand. That would give you a WAY better machine with more power and more options.A new Thermal Arc TA 185 with accesories would set you back a bit more than 1/2 what that machine you posted will. It would be similar in size, and still have more amps.A new Syncrowave 200 would run you 1/2 the cost with every thing but the cylinder. It's a bit heavier and bulky, needs more input power, but again would have more top end power. Used the sync 200 would run you around $1100-1500 complete.I'd steer clear of that "deal" and stick with a name brand machine with more power, more options, and a lower or equal price..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:I don't know who builds these welders, but if it is off shore, I would look at a Syncrowave 200 for less money. If you aren't going to be welding aluminum and don't need pulse, the Maxstar 150 is less than half the price.
Reply:Good thing you asked here first. Please post the same question on the Miller forums just for fun!
Reply:Looks like the one from Northern Tool except at 4 times the price and even the NT one is a questionable buy at its price.
Reply:just walk backwards into a prison shower and get it over with...ouch.
Reply:Wow, more $$ than a miller...I was just quoted $3300.00 for a brand new dynasty 200DX last week at Arc Source, & $3768 for the contractor pack.Get the miller!Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:I think it's a rebadged Cebora (made in Italy).TIG SOUND ac-dc 1530Cebora makes some really fine welders and plasma cutters. But if I were in the USA I would definitely go for a US-made welder. Cebora's quality may be similar to Miller's, but there's not enough gain in buying a high dollar rebadged offshore product, where the next service point may be lightyears away.
Reply:Wow, that is some serious coin.Last edited by backpurge; 04-26-2011 at 12:53 PM.
Reply:Don't know whether they would sell to Germany. Actually this was the first time I've heard of Cornwell Tools. But I can buy Cebora machines in Germany easily. I already have a small Cebora plasma cutter, nice little machine. Many European and especially Italian manufacturers of welding equipment have a long tradition of manufacturing for other distributors as well. Usually only the low end to mid range equipment, but sometimes even top grade equipment shows up with a different brand sticker. My Mig carries a very unknown MIG-O-MAT sticker, but other than that it's 100% Fronius (an Austrian high-end manufacturer).
