I had to build up some metallic silohuettes for a friends hunting lodge.  We shoot at these  from 400 yards out to 1000 yards.  The plate is T-1, and the Vital areas are double plated.  Here's a few pics.  I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:nice job. is that 1/2" plate. i might have to borrow your idea if you don't mind. i have alot of hunting buddies, and they're always buying a sheet of plywood that doesn't last.
Reply:Ordinarily 1/2" AR500 is what is used, but due to the price we have found that 1/2" T-1 will work pretty well if the Vitals are double plated.  If not the average high powered rifle will shoot thru it at 300-400 yards.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Pic #2: He's stuck in quick-sand. That's not a fair shot! Very nice but I'm a conscientious objector; I wouldn't have the heart to cut that plate up for targets!

Reply:I dunno. I can't figure out why anyone would want to shoot at a large, flat, metal surface. I have seen ricochets before. Ever see that video where a ricochet comes back and knocks a guys earmuffs off his head? SCARY!Cardboard works great. I know, I tried it. But the project looks awesome. Reply:Those look real good, but around here you couldn't put them up in your yard for display - some people hunt from their truck. I was in a gun club once that use something similar. They were not nearly as good looking as what you have there. We would shot at them with 44 mag pistols and 357's. Some of the guys would load the 357 so hot, it would start deforming the screws in their Colts. I could never see paying that much for a pistol and then tearing it up.
