how much cutting could you do with the small bottles? are they big enough to even cut up a small trailer?  does any one know how much the large size bottles cost? like 80 or 100 #Last edited by coolbeer; 07-23-2006 at 06:31 PM.

Reply:the reason im asking is thats the size of the bottles that comes with the set.its a victor tote torch, does any one have something like it
Reply:I normally get about 30 minutes of cutting time from a small portable set.  It obviously will vary some but I don't think should count on much more.
Reply:I've had them and they are OK, you end up waiting for the acetylene bottle to rest alot, but they are nice to carry around. The 10cf "MC" tanks use a special regulator fitting, and so do the 40cf "B" tanks. You'll need a to go above 40cf to use a standard regulator. It costs about $250 to get into a pair 100cf tanks here and about $75 to swap them.
Reply:thanks  i was hoping they would work , looks like i need to spend some more money
Reply:You'll save tons of money on gas fills if you get the larger tanks.  I have a Port-a-torch, but when I need to use it, someone gets a big bill.  The gas is much more expensive per cubic foot.
Reply:Mac is right . where i am, acetylene is pretty much -so much per cubic foot. but, the last time i had my oxygen refilled (280 cu.ft. ) it was about $19.00 . for oxygen , and other "cheap" gases (co2,nitrogen) you're paying mostly for the labor, & that's about the same (the labor part) no matter what size bottle you  have. That is what my dealer told me . He has his own gas pumping plant .         Example ; a 40cu. ft bottle cost $14   , the 280 cu. ft. (oxygen) =$19.00 )Last edited by Roy Hodges; 07-24-2006 at 12:03 PM.[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
Reply:I am using a set of small cylinders because I got them at a garage sale at a very low price.  Although I have next to nothing invested in the them I am going over to Tractor Supply later to exchange them for full ones for the third time in about a month. My cost for gas on per unit basis is very high.  I would avoid the port a torch size unless you really need the portability or you get a great deal.
